Review of “Don’t Eat Platypus Stew”

Review By Matthew Penton

This book is about bush rhymes. I loved the
illustrations by Rebecca M. Holdsworth.

The first part “Don’t Eat Platypus Stew” had a lot
of good information about platypus’s. Also it
tells you about what they look like. I do agree
with Margot they do have a ridiculous name.

The second section of the book is called “Koala
Capers”. Once again I loved Rebecca’s
illustrations. It had a lot of good information
about what koala’s like to eat. I think it is cool
how they drink water from a gum leaves entire
tip.

The third section of the book is called “Kooky
Kookaburra”. I think it is funny how they laugh. I
think it is cool how they like wake up games. It is
amazing how their beak is ready for attack. I
think any kids interested in birds would really
like Kooky Kookaburra because it has a lot of
good illustrations and information about
kookaburras.

I think this is a great book. I really enjoyed all of
the stories and learned a lot. Another reason it’s
a great book is there is a glossary of  Aussie
words in the back with their meanings.

Young Adult Book Reviews by Matthew P.

Matthew is Heather’s son and here
is a little bit about him in his
own words.

Hi my name is Matthew Penton.
I am 12 years old.  I am dyslexic so I read
slower then other people. Because my brain doesn’t
allow me to see words like other people.
Sometimes letters are backwards other times they
are jumbled.  That is why it takes me longer to
read then most my age.
My favorite type
of book is fantasy. I like these because
they are about dragons and magical creatures.
But I also like SciFi, spy, mysteries
and nature books.  I like these because they
are exciting to me.
